Who We Are

Our Story
The story of West End Community Church began in 1996 when Christ Community Church in Franklin, TN, felt God could be glorified by planting a church on the west side of Nashville. Our pastor, Carter Crenshaw, began leading this effort and in 1998 West End Community Church was officially recognized as a congregation in the Presbyterian Church of America (PCA). From that point WECC began to grow and after meeting in a local middle school for 7 years WECC moved to its current location on White Bridge Road in January 2005. Today, WECC continues as a dynamic church which seeks to meet the needs of people by sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We’re Here for a Reason
In reading the Bible it seems the best description for our purpose is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. This is the foundation for everything we do as a church (or as individuals). Flowing from that purpose WECC’s mission is to seek and build God’s kingdom by making, maturing and equipping followers of Jesus Christ who will influence our culture by bringing the gospel to bear on all of life. This is something we’re serious about - our intention is to actually do this! We look for the gospel to make an impact in our city and our world by first changing the lives of individuals. When something is real and makes a positive difference in your life, don’t you naturally want to share what you’ve discovered with your family, friends and neighbors? That’s what we want to see God do – affect the lives of us as individual people, and then do that again and again and again in people we know.

What You Can Expect
WECC is a warm place, filled with a diverse group of people that you will enjoy interacting with. When you arrive on a Sunday morning you can expect a friendly greeting at the door from someone who can also help you get where you need to go. You can expect that there is a safe place for your children to learn and grow. You’ll find a relaxed atmosphere where people are accepted right where they are. You’ll find a wide variety of clothing too – some wear jeans and sneakers while others wear skirts and heels. You can expect to participate in a worship service that blends old and new – that is contemporary in style and utilizes modern worship songs but still includes sacred hymns and clear biblical teaching. You’ll also find opportunities to get involved with smaller groups where you can get to know people and build relationships. And this is just the beginning of who we are and all that West End Community Church has to offer.

Core Values
At its core, West End Community Church is deeply committed to seven values. We believe and proclaim the GOSPEL of Jesus Christ and desire to be known for our LOVE  for each other and the people of our city. We WORSHIP the one true God together on Sundays and individually in everything we do.  We believe that COMMUNITY with other believers is an important part of life and that God created the FAMILY as the basic unit for our society.  We believe in a RENEWAL by God’s Holy Spirit that changes lives and that physical acts of SERVICE are a critical part of our witness as believers. These values describe who we are - as well as what we do as a church. You’ll find these woven into everything we do.
