Update on the recent earthquake in East Asia:

Dear Friends,
 
Thank you so much for the emails and concern regarding the earthquake that recently occurred on this side of the world. I wanted to let you know that I and my co-workers are all safe and accounted for.
 
We are mourning with the people here over the loss of life and devastation. The effects of this tragedy are certainly widespread and will continue to unfold as days continue to pass.
 
Please continue to remember those who are suffering in your prayers. Below are a few more prayer requests:
 
·  As relief efforts begin to develop, pray for special grace to organize quickly and effectively. I have been asked to help coordinate these efforts in my region for the summer, so please pray that I and those with whom I am working will be able to get the available resources to the areas of need

·  Pray for the many children who have recently been orphaned and are making their way to nearby cities

·  Pray that the God of comfort would comfort those who have lost children and other loved ones.

·  Pray that government officials would have wisdom as they seek to respond to this catastrophe

The missionaries we support, Davy & Pey, live and serve in the area where the earthquake hit early on Monday, May 12. They have a toddler and small infant; thankfully, none of them were injured. They've reported back that they felt the tremors for about 5 minutes and a few things fell in the apartment. As far as they could tell, there was no damage to their building or any of the surrounding ones.

Please continue to pray for their safety and their ability to minister in the midst of the devastation. The death toll in this and surrounding areas is expected to be around 100,000.
