Contentment... [Adjective] describing a state of being satisfied with what one is or has; not wanting more or anything else.

In the Bible, Paul closes his letter to the Philippians commenting that he “has learned to be content whatever the circumstances.” (Philippians 4:11b, NIV). This coming from a man who went from the highest of heights as a “Hebrew among Hebrews” to the lowest of lows, imprisoned in chains. How is this possible?

Is contentment elusive to you? Does it appear to be something that you feel like everyone else has but is always just out of your reach? Are you ensnared by the “if onlies?”

“If only I didn’t have to work and I could just stay home with my kids . . .”

“If only my boss wasn’t so demanding, I would love coming to work!”

“If only my children would listen to me when I ask them to do something, it wouldn’t be such a mess around here!”

“If my husband would just love me better and pay attention to me, I wouldn’t have to nag so much.”

“If I could just have (fill in the blank), I would be happy.”

Take some time to fellowship with your fellow women walking alongside you and be in the presence of your Savior as we consider true contentment.
