Our Beliefs

Who is God?

God is a person, triune, infinitely wise, just, good, holy, true and all-powerful. He is the ultimate reality, exclusively deserving religious worship and unquestioning obedience, who made the world out of nothing.

Who is Jesus?

Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. He became man, (literally) born of a virgin, worked miracles, fulfilled prophecy, lived a sinless life, suffered and died for our sin, bearing it's guilt and penalty. He was physically raised from the dead.  He will physically come again to gather his people and judge the world.

What is the Bible?

The scriptures are the very words of God, which makes us wise unto salvation.

The scriptures are our "canon" - the Bible alone is our final standard.

The Bible is sufficiently clear for all believers for understanding, interpretation, and application.

What does it mean to be saved?

Salvation from sin comes to us not by our good works, but by receiving the free gift of God by faith. Saving faith receives the sacrifice of Christ as our sacrifice and our only basis for fellowship with God. This saving faith inevitably motivates us to obedience.

What did Christ do for us?

Jesus Christ made that gift of God possible. His life, death, and resurrection provide a way for us to be reconciled with God. Jesus Christ lived the life you should have lived and died the death you should have died.

This means that the gospel is that -
  • You are more flawed and lost than you ever dared believe, yet
  • You are more accepted and loved than you have ever dared to hope.

More on Our Beliefs

We belong to a wonderful family of churches called the Presbyterian Church in America.  A synopsis of our beliefs can be found by clicking here.

A fuller outlining of our doctrine is best expressed in a historic document that is based on the Scriptures: the Westminster Confession of Faith, along with the Larger and Shorter Catechisms.  If you have any questions about our doctrine, please feel free to contact one of our pastoral staff or elders.
