MOVE 2020

As a longtime member of West End Community Church, I see so many reasons to be excited about our church community this season! Perhaps most of all because each Sunday brings more and more new faces to our services! And Nashville is growing up all around us, too!

We want to continue to reach new people with the good news of the gospel and have an impact for God’s kingdom in our church community and throughout Nashville. That’s what MOVE 2020 is about.

The good news? A few improvements to our facility will allow us to better serve our needs on Sunday mornings and enhance the experience of ministries and community groups that use our building throughout the week. For example:

  • The technology we use on Sundays was developed before the iPhone, so upgrades and other solutions will easily enrich our worship experience.

  • Enhancements to the Narthex will help us to be an even more welcoming community and draw more members and visitors into worship.

  • Building an outdoor community space will be a tremendous resource for our youth ministry, other West End ministries and outreach to our local community. The preliminary concept includes a covered, 960-square-foot pavilion and sand volleyball court on the grassy area near the Hanger building.

With two church plants already under our belts and a third about to launch (go Eric Ashley and Parks Church!), we have seen firsthand the way a church plant reaches new people for Christ. Need convincing? Just ask J. Hagar about how God is at work at our Flatrock plant in Woodbine! Growing our capacity to support church plants in Nashville and around the world is a priority.

The Discipleship Center has been a huge asset to our ministry, as well. It’s hard to imagine how we ever did without it! Reducing debt from that building project will free up a significant amount of money to be used for ministry, keeping us nimble to meet the new and ever-changing needs of a city that is on the move.

I hope you’ll come to one of our community meetings to learn more about MOVE 2020 and the part we can all play in supporting this important effort. Meetings will take place at the church in Room 440 on Sunday, November 19, at 4 p.m. and again on Wednesday, November 29, at 5:30 p.m.

Listen. Learn. Ask questions. Get excited with me about this season for West End Community Church and the role God is calling each of us to play!
