Before Christmas Alyssa Pfister shared during Sunday morning worship about how God is at work in Burundi and how we can partner with her team to expand medical care and training. Carter challenged our congregation to give the remaining $100,000 needed to fund a new 80-bed pediatric ward at Kibuye Hope Hospital.
We are delighted to report that the new ward is fully funded, thanks in part to the $135,000 given by members of our congregation. Your generosity is making a difference.
You may have noticed something different in the hallway near the nursery. There's an incubator on display like those used in Burundi. These innovative boxes were developed by a friend of Alyssa's who had them built with light bulbs underneath to keep the babies warm. Here's what they look like in use.
We've been delighted to see families contribute in honor of their own healthy children, some of whom were helped by NICUs here in Nashville. You can leave a check in the incubator with "Burundi Hospital" if you would like to donate.
Alyssa is back on the field, but you can follow along with her team's work in Burundi on their team blog.
