Resources for Lent

In the same way that Advent prepares us to celebrate the coming of Jesus Christ at Christmas, Lent prepares us to celebrate two of the most important moments in all of human history, the death of Jesus Christ and his Easter resurrection. Just as we get ready for big life events like weddings, Lent is a season inviting us to prepare our hearts and minds to consider the suffering of Jesus Christ and celebrating his glorious victory over death. To be clear, observing Lent is not a biblical command but rather a helpful way to mark time—where we can collectively consider our union with Christ and anticipate Easter Sunday.

You may find it helpful to use a devotion to help guide your time during Lent. Here are a few we’ve found helpful.

If you are looking for a resource for your family, there are Lenten devotionals in the children’s ministry area. We would also recommend the Jesus Storybook Bible Journey to Easter, which you can receive for free by signing up for Sally Lloyd-Jones’ newsletter. If you are looking for a weekly devotional or something to do daily during Holy Week, check out Lenten Lights by Noël Piper.

Our deepest hope is that in this season of Lent we would be more fully astonished by the wonder of the cross, the riches of God’s grace and the triumph of Christ’s resurrection. Our worship services will also be looking forward in anticipation towards Easter. Please join us Sundays at 9 a.m. or 10:30 a.m.
