PSALM 63:1-5 O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands. My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips.
This is what congregational worship is all about. It’s more than just a song; it’s an expression that is rooted in the beautiful work that Christ has done in our hearts. We sing psalms hymns and spiritual songs – not because of anything that we have done – but because of the sufficient atonement Jesus accomplished for us on the cross. Were it not for Him we would be lost and forgotten in this “looking out for number one” society. Were it not for His sacrifice we would still be aimlessly buying whatever we think might satisfy our souls. Jesus said, “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” That’s the good news of the gospel, and that is why we have every reason to sing, pray, lift up our hands and glorify the everlasting King.
Worship At West End Community Church
When you come to one of our worship services our prayer for you is that you would not just sing a song, hear a sermon and go home, but that you would experience the presence of God, be engaged through music and prayer, be convicted by the Spirit of God through His Word, and be encouraged in the fellowship of other believers. We are not meant to be spectators when we gather for worship. We were designed to respond physically, emotionally, spiritually and intellectually to the matchless wonder and work that we find in Christ Jesus.
About Our Worship Team
We have an amazing group of musicians that dedicate their time and talents to the glory of God every week through music. If you play an instrument or sing, we are always looking to expand our team with like-minded worshippers. Here is a portion of our philosophy of worship:
“The role of a worship team member is that of a change agent or catalyst. Most people have a very limited understanding of what worship is and how they should worship God. Studies show that 50% of the theology that people have about worship comes from what they experience in worship services. It is so important that we are positioning ourselves (emotionally, physically and spiritually) to demonstrate Biblical worship. If you’re on the platform you’re not just a musician, you are a worship leader.”
