CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: Sing praises to the Lord, O you his saints, and give thanks to his holy name. For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime.
People: Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.
Psalm 30:4-5
Confession of Faith
Heidelberg Catechism, Q & A #1
Q. What is your only comfort in life and death?
A. That I am not my own, but belong with body and soul, both in life and in death, to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, and has set me free from all the power of the devil. He also preserves me in such a way that without the will of my heavenly Father not a hair can fall from my head; indeed, all things must work together for my salvation. Therefore, by his Holy Spirit he also assures me of eternal life and makes me heartily willing and ready from now on to live for him.
Confession of Sin
Almighty God, we confess that we seek healing through comfort, not repentance. We want our wounds soothed, not our hearts changed. But like Aeneas, you call us to rise—to respond in faith, turn from self-protection, and walk in newness of life. Forgive us for clinging to broken strategies instead of trusting your word. Heal us not by ease, but by grace that calls us to repent and obey. Amen.
ASSURANCE OF PARDON
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
