Talk about it together

The birth of Jesus was very special and brought good news for everyone. Jesus was not just any baby. He is God’s son, sent from heaven to earth. God chose Mary and Joseph, ordinary people, to be his earthly parents.

They traveled to Bethlehem to be counted in the census. Many others were traveling too, and there was no room for them to stay. Jesus was born in a stable, and Mary laid him in a manger. Nearby, shepherds were watching their sheep when angels appeared and sang, “Glory to God in the highest, and peace on earth.”

The shepherds hurried to find Jesus. They worshiped him and told others the good news. Later, wise men traveled from far away to worship Jesus. They brought gifts fit for a king: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

Jesus is the king who rules forever, just as God promised long ago. Celebrating his birth means rejoicing in the greatest gift we have ever received. God sent his son to be our savior and king. Jesus came to save people and fulfill God’s plan of salvation and love for the world.
