Day 1: 2025 Kenya

God goes before us and is with us.
We truly have to give so much praise and thanks to God for going before us on this trip! We have all seen his hand in orchestrating every detail, and we are in awe of his goodness and mercy.
We have all safely arrived in Kenya! Our team met at the Nashville airport over three hours before our flight was scheduled to leave. We quickly found out our flight to Atlanta was delayed by 39 minutes, and with only a 56-minute layover, our connecting flight to Amsterdam was going to be impossible to make. Through a lot of waiting and rerouting, 12 members of our team were able to get rebooked immediately while the other four members had to catch a later flight. God was so faithful in keeping our team together in groups so that no one travelled alone. Our 12-member team had a flight attendant on the first flight who was so emotional about us going to Kenya that she wrote a sweet note to us!
Both teams had smooth travels all the way to Kenya (praise the Lord!), without any other major hiccups other than a few delays. Our 12-member team arrived in Nairobi to discover that 10 of our bags didn’t make it. We spent two hours with the sweetest airport staff who worked diligently to help track down our bags and get them scheduled to be delivered to us. We met a kind worker named Edith at the airport who is a believer and told us the story about her son who needed our prayers. We were able to stop and pray for her and her son, which was so beautiful to see God working through us to minister to her. Our 4-person team arrived in Nairobi at 6:00 this morning, with all their bags, so we’re asking God to restore and rejuvenate them. We pray everyone feels rested and refreshed going into our first full day in-country!
To say it’s been an adventurous start to our trip is an understatement and we’re so excited for all the ways God will use us for his glory.
HOw we saw god at work today:
In providing a way forward for all of us, even when we had to travel in two teams
Covering our team with a spirit of peace despite the ups and downs of flight issues
In the kindness shown by those who helped us navigate flight delays and missing luggage to get us taken care of as quickly as possible
In the chaos, a great reminder that God is in control, and we must release that control and trust him
Through his protection in all the hiccups as he continued to provide for us
prayer requests:
For rest and rejuvenation for our team
For our eyes and hearts to be focused on God and his will for this trip
For protection as we travel to Kajiado, the community where we’ll be hosting Vacation Bible School (VBS) and visiting the Girls’ school
For great connections with the kids at VBS and the girls we mentor
For us to have no fear or anxiety about our trip
