Day 2: 2025 Kenya

God’s timing and provision

After a short night’s rest, our whole team was reunited and able to have team time and a quick orientation with breakfast. We also got to shop for beautiful trinkets and souvenirs from a sweet group of local Kenyans who set up at our lodging facility. We got word that all but two of our bags were at the airport, so Bobby and Robert went to retrieve them. Unfortunately, the bags were not at the airport, but three of the missing 10 bags were delivered to us. We are praising the Lord for those bags! Some of our missing luggage had VBS supplies in them, but we were able to flex on crafts and adjust based on what we did have.

The bag retrieval excursion ended up taking a few hours, which meant leaving for Kajiado three hours later than planned. This whole trip, we have experienced God telling us that his timing is much better than ours! We knew coming to Kenya would mean having open hands and we’ve all been working hard to trust him in all things.

We arrived in Kajiado and enjoyed a nice dinner with Robert’s African Transformational Leadership (ATL) Board. It was amazing to fellowship with the team and talk through today’s full schedule of VBS and mentoring the Girl’s school. We had another long day, but we are thankful and blessed to carry out God’s mission while here in Kenya!

HOw we saw god at work today:

  • In the generosity of friends who went above and beyond bringing supplies to our team

  • In the way Craig and Robert shared the gospel with Edmond, a new friend in Kenya who received Christ right there with them

  • In the blessing of three of our lost bags arriving

  • In the kindness and generosity of the ATL Board members

 prayer requests:

  • Bonding with the Maasai community during VBS and time at the Girl’s school time

  • ATL leaders teaching the pastors

  • Stamina, strength, and confidence

  • Full recovery of Bishop Charles, a member of the ATL Board, who broke his hip

  • The Rendille tribe and Bishop Simon, another ATL Board member

  • Reverend John’s church members, including one in the ICU

  • ATL teacher David’s oldest son during his recovery from a hip replacement

  • Maasi leader Bishop Peter’s father who is in the hospital

  • Craig and Nichole’s uncle, Graham, who broke his back
