Judah Taken Captive

LESSON DATE & SCRIPTURE: NOV. 23 | 2 chronicles 36

Memory Verse: 2 Chronicles 7:14 (runs through 11/25/25)

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Talk about it together

Judah ignored God’s prophets and refused to follow him, and they suffered the consequences of their sin. God could have given up on his people, but he didn’t. His love is unconditional, and his pursuit of his people is persistent.

Sin pushes us away from God because he detests sin. Yet he still loves us and longs for us to repent, seek his forgiveness, and ask for the help we need.

In his mercy and grace, God provided the plan he had promised. He is always faithful. He fulfilled his promise through his Son, Jesus, who came to take the punishment for the sins of his people. Jesus is our eternal King. When we trust completely in him, we become part of God’s family forever.

Jesus died for you and me, taking our sin and giving us his righteousness. We are never too far gone, too sinful, or too distant from his grasp to be forgiven. Through our King Jesus, we have God’s perfect promise that we are fully and forever forgiven.

Family discussion

  • How did God plan to fix what sin had broken?

  • When will believers be completely free from all sin?

Family prayer

Lord, thank you for your unconditional love and your pursuit of me. Thank you for the promise of your Son Jesus, our eternal King and Savior. Help me live each day obediently following you. Amen.
