Talk about it together

God sent a message to his people through a prophet named Malachi. He reminded them of God’s great love, but he also warned them about their wrong choices. The people were not obeying God. He showed them their sin so their broken hearts could be healed and brought back to him.

God always knows what is best for us. Malachi’s message gave hope. God promised to send the Messiah, the one who would bring light out of darkness forever. Malachi also spoke about another messenger, John the Baptist, who would prepare the way for the final messenger, Jesus Christ.

Jesus would take away the sin of the world and bring salvation to everyone who believes in him.

Family discussion

  • Who was the last prophet in the Old Testament?

  • Why was God unhappy with the people?

  • What can we do when we realize we are living in sin?

Family prayer

Lord, thank you for the promise of your son, Jesus. Thank you for changing our hearts and helping us love and obey you each day. Amen.
