Day 5: 2025 Kenya

Our last day with the children

Today was bittersweet! It was our last full day of VBS and going to the girls’ school, so we wanted to soak it up as much as possible. We had our morning devotion with breakfast, speaking over us that we should rest in the Lord and go forth. That’s exactly what we did!

We went forth to the Maasai village to greet the kids and leaders and start our final two VBS lessons. We taught on “Jonah and the Whale” and “Saul Disobeying God,” emphasizing how important it is to trust God and his timing. The kids had a blast listening to Ms. Salome, an ATL leader, narrate Jonah’s story while seeing a great tv-like visual. We were able to really be intentional with the kids today, as we knew it was our last time seeing them. The kids heard more of God’s word, enjoyed crafts, and were able to teach us new games! We presented the kids to the church where they showed-off their crafts and sang songs for the members and leaders. It was a sweet and meaningful moment, one we will all cherish!

After saying goodbye to the kids, we headed to the girls’ school to speak to them more about improving self-esteem. We held individual classroom sessions that allowed our team to meet with the girls. One student gave her life to Christ - praise God for moving in her life!

We gathered for a full-school assembly where Beverly Crowder and Bobby Freeman spoke to the girls and gave them encouragement from Scripture. The girls said goodbye to us with a song and LOTS of hugs!

We headed back to our hotel with our hearts full and our lives touched. We enjoyed dinner and team time and prepared for another day of visiting the Maasai village. Tomorrow, we plan to see a recently dug well and travel back to Nairobi. We appreciate all the prayers for us and can feel the love from everyone!

HOw we saw god at work today:

  • The presence of God in the ATL training from the start of worship through the whole training

  • Hearing the children sing songs about God and Jesus, praising him

  • In the attentiveness and engagement of the kids during Ms. Salome’s teaching on Jonah

  • The encouragement of the girls, as we saw God’s light shining brightly

  • Seeing our youth and young adults on this trip growing in their faith and love for the Lord

 prayer requests:

  • For recovery of both Solomon (an ATL leader) and Anthony (his son) from bad falls today

  • Traveling mercies for our team as we head back to Nairobi

  • God to continue to work in and through us as we carry out his mission for us here
