Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream
LESSON DATE & SCRIPTURE: dec. 11 | DANIEL 4
Memory Verse: 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18 (runs through 1/11/25)
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Talk about it together
King Nebuchadnezzar was a sinful and proud king who believed he was the greatest and deserved all the credit for building Babylon. Pride is a sin. It means thinking too highly of ourselves and forgetting that everything we have comes from God. God wanted Nebuchadnezzar to know him and understand that he is the true King who rules over everything. So God gave the king a frightening dream and took his kingdom away. This humbled Nebuchadnezzar and taught him an important lesson: God is God, and we are not.
Jesus, God’s perfect Son, is the true King of Kings. Instead of acting proud, Jesus humbled himself by coming to earth, dying on the cross, and rising from the grave. When we trust in Jesus, he saves us from sin and helps us live for God’s glory. We can rejoice that God is good, loving, and always in control. Because of this, we can trust him, obey him, and give him all the glory every day.
